Scott County, AR (February 11, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene following a fatal crash that occurred Monday afternoon on State Highway 80 West in Scott County. The accident was reported at approximately 3:40 PM, prompting a rapid response from local authorities and emergency services.
According to the initial investigation, a 2001 Ford F-150 was traveling west on State Highway 80 when the driver exited a curve to the right and overcorrected to the left. The vehicle then overcorrected again, began to overturn, and exited the highway on the north side before striking a tree.
The crash resulted in one fatality and five injuries. A female minor, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the vehicle, 49-year-old Sonny Wallace of Waldron, was injured and transported to Mercy Hospital in Waldron. Four additional minors, whose identities and ages remain undisclosed, were also injured in the crash.
The body of the deceased has been taken to the Scott County Coroner’s Office. The crash remains under investigation by local authorities. Weather conditions at the time of the accident were overcast, and the roads were wet, which may have contributed to the incident.
