St. Louis, MO (February 7, 2025) – A crash on westbound I-70 at the northbound I-270 ramp in St. Louis sent two individuals to the hospital with injuries. The accident, which occurred around 9:33 p.m. on Friday, involved a 2009 GMC 1500 and a 2018 Nissan Altima. The Nissan struck the rear of the GMC, causing both vehicles to lose control. The GMC ended up in a ditch off the right shoulder, while the Nissan hit a wall and came to a stop.

The 21-year-old male driver and 16-year-old female passenger of the GMC were both transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The male driver was taken to Mercy Hospital St. Louis, and the juvenile was transported to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Both vehicles were towed by Bolin Services, and law enforcement continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their swift recovery.

Rear-End Collisions in Missouri

Rear-end collisions are one of the most common types of accidents in Missouri, especially on high-speed roads like I-70. These accidents often occur when drivers follow too closely or fail to react quickly enough to sudden changes in traffic conditions. Drivers must remain alert and keep a safe distance to avoid rear-ending another vehicle, especially when traveling at high speeds or in heavy traffic.

Missouri’s roads have seen an increase in rear-end accidents in recent years. To prevent such incidents, drivers should pay attention to road signs, signals, and keep a safe following distance, particularly in congested traffic areas.

What to Do After a Vehicle Collision

If you are involved in a vehicle collision, consider the following steps:

  1. Seek Medical Attention: Even minor injuries should be evaluated by a medical professional to prevent long-term complications.
  2. File a Report: Always report the crash to local law enforcement for a formal investigation and documentation.
  3. Exchange Information: Collect contact and insurance information from all involved parties.
  4. Consult an Attorney: If you are injured, it’s important to seek legal advice to ensure you receive proper compensation for medical expenses and other damages.
