New York, NY (February 6, 2025) – A tragic accident on the Upper East Side claimed the life of a 90-year-old woman who was struck by two vehicles Wednesday evening, according to the NYPD.
The incident occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of York Avenue and East 72nd Street. Authorities reported that 90-year-old Frances Rickard was initially hit by a 2020 Toyota RAV4 driven by a 68-year-old man who was traveling north and making a U-turn.
Moments later, Rickard was struck again by a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by a 35-year-old woman. Emergency responders transported her to Weill Cornell Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Both drivers remained at the scene following the accident. Authorities have not made any arrests, and an investigation is ongoing.
