Webster County, MO (February 5, 2025) — A woman sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash on westbound US 60 near Highway A, approximately a quarter-mile west of Diggins, on Tuesday morning. The accident occurred at approximately 8:53 a.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Authorities reported that a 38-year-old woman from Seymour, MO, was driving a 2008 Honda Pilot southbound when she failed to yield to a westbound 2007 Peterbilt 379 semi-truck. The impact caused significant damage to the Honda, which was towed from the scene by Marshfield Towing. The Peterbilt truck sustained only minor damage and was driven away from the scene.
The driver of the Honda was wearing a seatbelt and suffered injuries. She was transported by a private vehicle to Mercy Hospital in Springfield for treatment. The 60-year-old male driver of the semi-truck, a resident of La Junta, CO, was uninjured.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
Failure to Yield Accidents in Missouri
Failure to yield is a common cause of accidents at intersections and highway merge points, often leading to serious injuries or fatalities. Large commercial trucks, such as Peterbilt semi-trucks, require longer stopping distances, making right-of-way violations particularly dangerous.
Victims of vehicle crashes may experience medical expenses, lost wages, and vehicle repair costs. Under Missouri law, individuals injured in crashes caused by another driver’s negligence may have legal options to seek compensation for their damages.
To improve road safety, drivers should always obey traffic signals, check for oncoming vehicles before proceeding, and remain aware of large trucks that may have limited maneuverability. Defensive driving techniques can significantly reduce accident risks.
