Tulsa, OK (February 4, 2024) – Three people were hospitalized following a crash on North Peoria Avenue near East 78th Street North on Monday afternoon. According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP), the crash involved a truck that veered off the roadway after the driver suffered a medical episode.
The truck struck a construction tractor and a flagger working at the site, seriously injuring the worker. A responding OHP trooper applied a tourniquet to the victim’s leg, potentially saving his life. The worker was transported to the hospital for treatment. The driver and a passenger in the truck were also taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The northbound and southbound lanes of Peoria Avenue were shut down just before 3 p.m. as emergency crews worked the scene. The road remained closed for approximately two hours before reopening. Officials continue to investigate the incident.
