Pelham, NH (February 4, 2025) – A serious crash involving a school bus and a sedan left multiple people injured Tuesday morning at the intersection of Mammoth Road and Keyes Hill Road, according to the Pelham Fire Department.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 6:44 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a mid-sized sedan with significant driver’s side damage after being struck by a school bus. The school bus, which was carrying only the driver and a single child passenger, sustained minor damage, and neither occupant was injured.
The sedan, however, had four occupants—two adults and two children. One adult sustained life-threatening injuries and was extricated from the vehicle before being airlifted by DHART to a trauma center. The driver of the sedan was trapped and required extrication using hydraulic rescue tools. The driver and two children were transported to a local hospital by mutual aid ambulance services.
Multiple emergency units from surrounding communities assisted at the scene. The Pelham Police Department is actively investigating the crash.
Our thoughts are with those injured, and we hope for their full recovery.
Bus Accidents in New Hampshire
Bus-related accidents, while less frequent than other motor vehicle crashes, can have severe consequences, especially when smaller passenger vehicles are involved. The size and weight difference between a bus and a sedan often result in significant damage and serious injuries.
Intersections like Mammoth Road and Keyes Hill Road can be high-risk areas for collisions, especially during early morning hours when visibility and road conditions may vary. Authorities continue to investigate contributing factors such as traffic signals, right-of-way adherence, and potential driver errors.
For those injured in serious motor vehicle accidents, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial, as some injuries may not be immediately apparent. Understanding legal options and available resources can also help victims and their families navigate recovery and potential compensation.
