Mount Vernon, MO (February 4, 2025) – A woman was injured Monday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 44 westbound in Mount Vernon.
The accident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. when a 2024 Freightliner Cascadia changed lanes and struck a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina. The impact caused moderate damage to the Lumina, which had to be towed from the scene, while the Freightliner sustained minor damage and was able to be driven away.
The driver of the Lumina, a 76-year-old woman from Nixa, MO, suffered injuries and was transported by Mercy Ambulance to Cox South in Springfield for treatment. The driver of the Freightliner, a 30-year-old man from Elk Grove, CA, was uninjured.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
