Hinds County, MS (February 4, 2025) – A tragic multi-vehicle collision on MS-18 near Cidero Road claimed two lives and left multiple others injured on Saturday morning.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the crash at approximately 11:54 a.m. The accident involved four vehicles:
- A 2018 Cadillac XT5, driven by 39-year-old Glenn W. Matthews Jr. of Vicksburg, traveling westbound on MS-18.
- A 2008 Toyota, driven by 45-year-old Melissa Berryhill Spencer of Utica, traveling eastbound on MS-18.
- A 2018 Nissan Murano, driven by 39-year-old Jimika Scott of Utica, also traveling eastbound, with 71-year-old Linda Scott and a minor as passengers.
- A 2020 Dodge Ram, driven by 55-year-old Jeffery Billot of Utica, traveling eastbound on MS-18.
Authorities reported that the Cadillac collided head-on with the Toyota before sideswiping the Dodge. The impact caused the Toyota to crash into the Nissan.
Tragically, Melissa Berryhill Spencer was pronounced dead at the scene. Glenn W. Matthews Jr. was airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Jimika Scott and Linda Scott were transported to UMMC for treatment, though their current conditions remain undisclosed. Jeffery Billot was unharmed in the crash.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is actively investigating the cause of this fatal accident.
