Northland Twp, MN (February 3, 2025) – Emergency responders were quick to the scene following a two-vehicle accident that occurred on southbound Highway 53 at Harris Rd in Northland Township, St. Louis County.
According to reports, the crash happened at approximately 5:27 p.m. A 2016 Jeep Utility was traveling southbound in the right lane, preparing to turn left at the crossover into an address just south of Harris Rd. At the same time, a 2021 Kia Telluride was traveling in the left lane in the same direction. The vehicles made contact in the southbound lane just south of Harris Rd.
Authorities from Meadowlands Ambulance, St. Louis County Sheriff and Rescue, and Grand Lake Fire responded to the scene. Emergency responders assessed the involved individuals. The driver of the Jeep, identified as 70-year-old Valerie Jo Campbell of Northland, MN, did not report any injuries. Similarly, the driver of the Kia, 45-year-old Eric Otto Westberg, also did not sustain injuries. However, a passenger in the Kia, 74-year-old Carol Jeneen Westberg, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Essentia for medical care.
The crash occurred on roadways affected by snow and ice, which may have played a factor in the collision. The incident remains under investigation by local authorities. Our thoughts are with those affected by this accident.
