Cole County, MO (February 3, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash at Big Horn Drive near the entrance ramp to US 50 Westbound left one person injured late Saturday  night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 10:29 p.m. when a 2006 Toyota Corolla, traveling westbound, failed to yield and was struck by a southbound 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe. The front of the Hyundai collided with the rear passenger side of the Toyota, causing moderate damage to both vehicles.

Despite the impact, both vehicles were driven away from the scene. The driver of the Toyota, a 19-year-old woman from Jefferson City, sustained minor injuries and was transported by Cole County EMS to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment. The driver of the Hyundai, an 18-year-old woman, was not reported as injured.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish her a full recovery.

Car Accidents in Missouri

Failure to yield is a common cause of vehicle collisions, especially near highway entrance ramps where merging traffic must navigate right-of-way rules. Even when crashes result in moderate vehicle damage, the impact can still lead to injuries that require medical attention.

Drivers in Missouri must remain alert at intersections and merging areas, ensuring they yield appropriately to avoid accidents. Understanding traffic laws and exercising caution can help prevent these types of collisions and keep roadways safer for all motorists.

For those injured in car accidents, navigating medical bills, insurance claims, and recovery can be overwhelming. Seeking professional guidance can help accident victims understand their rights and explore options for support.
