Canyon County, ID (February 1, 2025) – A three-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 84 near the Garrity Blvd. exit left two people hospitalized on Friday morning. The Idaho State Police (ISP) is currently investigating the collision, which occurred at approximately 9:38 a.m. at milepost 38.
According to the ISP, the incident began when a 60-year-old man from Simi Valley, California, driving a 2017 Kenworth semi-truck, collided with the side of a 2018 Audi Q5. The impact caused the Audi, driven by a 57-year-old woman from Boise, Idaho, to lose control. The vehicle veered into the median before being struck by a 2022 Cascadia semi-truck driven by a 53-year-old man from Cadiz, Kentucky.
Fortunately, all occupants in the vehicles were wearing seat belts, but both individuals in the Audi were transported to a nearby hospital by ground ambulance for further evaluation. The extent of their injuries has not been publicly released, but they are reported to be in stable condition.
The crash caused significant traffic disruption, as the eastbound lanes of I-84 were blocked for approximately four and a half hours. Emergency responders worked quickly to clear the wreckage, and the road was reopened at 2:00 p.m. during the afternoon rush.
The Idaho State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash. At this time, it is unclear whether speed, driver error, or other factors contributed to the accident. Authorities have urged any witnesses to come forward with additional information.
