St. Louis, MO (February 1, 2025) – A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle while standing in an exit lane of southbound Interstate 55 near Bayless Avenue late Friday night.
At approximately 10:32 p.m., a 30-year-old man from Affton was driving a 2007 BMW when he encountered a pedestrian in the roadway. The driver attempted to brake and swerve but was unable to avoid the pedestrian. The front right side of the vehicle struck the individual.
First responders, including paramedics, assessed and treated the pedestrian, a 55-year-old woman from St. Louis, who sustained serious injuries. She was transported by Affton Protection District to Mercy Hospital South.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
