Puyallup, WA (January 8, 2025) – A motorcycle crash near South Hill Mall left a 28-year-old rider with significant injuries on Sunday evening. The incident, described as a suspected DUI collision, occurred around 6:02 PM on 39th Avenue Southwest near the 700 block.
According to Puyallup police, the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on 39th Avenue Southwest when a pickup truck entered the roadway from 7th Street Southwest without yielding the right of way. The impact of the collision ejected the motorcyclist from the bike, sending both the rider and motorcycle across the roadway.
Emergency responders arrived promptly and transported the injured motorcyclist, a Pierce County resident, to a local hospital for treatment of significant injuries. The extent of the rider’s injuries has not been disclosed, but police confirmed they were severe enough to warrant immediate medical attention.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 72-year-old man, was evaluated on the scene for impairment. After conducting a series of tests, police arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI).
