Ashtabula Township, OH (January 8, 2025) – A tragic accident claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman, identified as Gabriele Reo after she was struck by a vehicle while walking her dog Monday night on Route 20 near Blair Ave.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 7:18 PM. Preliminary investigations reveal that a 2016 Chevrolet Trax, driven by a 26-year-old from Conneaut, was traveling westbound when it struck Reo and her dog. Emergency responders rushed Reo to the Ashtabula Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The Ashtabula County Dog Warden also responded to the scene to assist with the care of the dog. The current condition of the dog has not been disclosed. Authorities have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing but have not indicated if charges will be filed against the driver.
