Hit-and-Run Accidents in North Carolina
Hit-and-run crashes remain a serious issue across North Carolina, with many resulting in severe injuries or fatalities. According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), a significant percentage of pedestrian and vehicular accidents involve drivers fleeing the scene, often leaving victims without immediate medical assistance.
Alcohol and drug impairment are leading factors in fatal pedestrian accidents. Drivers under the influence are more likely to exhibit reckless behavior, including excessive speed, failure to yield, and fleeing after a crash. These factors contribute to tragic outcomes such as the one in this case.
To improve safety, drivers should always remain at the scene of an accident and render aid when necessary. Pedestrians and motorists alike should remain alert, especially at night, and ensure well-lit surroundings when walking near roadways.
If you or a loved one has been affected by a hit-and-run accident, seeking legal assistance can help ensure justice and compensation for medical expenses, loss of income, and emotional distress.
