Marshan Township, MN (January 9, 2025) – A fatal collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 61 and 190th Street East in Marshan Township on Wednesday afternoon. The crash, reported at approximately 4:18 p.m., involved two vehicles and resulted in multiple injuries, including one fatality.
The collision involved a 2014 Hyundai Elantra traveling eastbound on 190th Street East and a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado traveling southbound on Highway 61. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the vehicles collided in the intersection under dry road conditions. Emergency responders, including Dakota County Sheriff, Hastings Police Department, and Hastings Fire Department, assisted at the scene.
The driver of the Hyundai Elantra, Ramazan Ali Rahmani, 38, of Burnsville, MN, tragically suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Mahdi Rahmani, 29, also of Burnsville, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Regions Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Chevrolet Silverado, Theresa Yvonne Fredin, 42, of Cannon Falls, MN, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to Regions Hospital for medical evaluation. Both vehicles deployed airbags, and there was no indication of alcohol involvement in the crash. While Mr. Rahmani was wearing his seatbelt, Ms. Fredin was not.
