Galveston, TX (January 2, 2025) – A tragic wrong-way crash on Seawall Blvd at 42nd St in Galveston claimed the life of one person and left several others injured early New Year’s Day. The incident occurred at approximately 1 a.m., according to the Galveston Police Department.
Investigators reported that the crash happened when a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lane without its lights on collided with another vehicle carrying a family of four. The wrong-way driver was pronounced dead at the scene, while all four family members were transported to the UTMB Galveston emergency room. Two of them were reported to be in critical condition.
The Galveston County Medical Examiner was called to the scene to assist with the investigation. At this time, it remains unclear whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, as further analysis is pending.
