St. Charles, MO (January 30, 2025) – A two-vehicle collision on westbound Interstate 70 near the Convention Center left one driver injured Wednesday evening.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 6:32 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70. Authorities reported that a 42-year-old woman from Foristell was driving a 1997 GMC Sierra in lane three when she lost control of her vehicle and veered into lane four. The GMC struck the right side of a 2025 Tesla Model 3, driven by a 33-year-old man from St. Charles. Following the impact, the GMC skidded, traveled off the roadway, struck the center median wall, and overturned.
Emergency responders from Pattonville Ambulance arrived on the scene and transported the Tesla driver to Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur for treatment of moderate injuries. The GMC driver did not report any injuries at the time of the crash.
The Tesla sustained extensive damage but was able to be driven away from the scene. The GMC Sierra, however, was totaled and had to be towed by Superior Towing. Authorities continue to investigate the incident to determine contributing factors.
We extend our best wishes for a full recovery to the injured driver.
Loss of Vehicle Control and Highway Safety in Missouri
Losing control of a vehicle at highway speeds can result in serious crashes, particularly on major roadways like Interstate 70. Sudden lane departures, slippery road conditions, and driver inattention are common causes of loss-of-control accidents, which often lead to severe damage and injuries.
Missouri drivers are urged to maintain control of their vehicles by adjusting their speed for road conditions, avoiding sudden lane changes, and ensuring their tires and braking systems are in good condition. Additionally, staying alert and keeping a safe distance from surrounding vehicles can help mitigate the risks associated with unpredictable roadway incidents.
For individuals injured in highway crashes, dealing with medical expenses, insurance claims, and vehicle repairs can be overwhelming. Seeking proper guidance can be crucial in navigating recovery and understanding available options.
If you or someone you know has been injured in a highway accident, speaking with a professional can help clarify the next steps toward recovery and potential legal options.
