Chicago, IL (January 30, 2025) – Six people sustained injuries, including one critically, after a two-vehicle crash in the West Ridge neighborhood early Thursday morning.

According to Chicago police, the crash occurred at approximately 12:16 a.m. in the 6300 block of North Albany Avenue. A yellow sedan allegedly disregarded a traffic signal and collided with a black SUV at the intersection of Albany and Rosemont avenues.

Emergency responders transported a 14-year-old passenger from the SUV to St. Francis Hospital in critical condition. Three other occupants of the SUV—a 56-year-old man, a 48-year-old woman, and a 15-year-old girl—were also taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The 25-year-old man driving the sedan was transported to a hospital in good condition, while a 17-year-old passenger in his vehicle declined medical treatment.

Authorities confirmed that the driver of the sedan would receive citations related to the crash. Further details surrounding the incident remain under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims, and we hope for a full recovery for those affected.

Intersection Accidents in Chicago

Intersections are among the most dangerous areas for traffic collisions, especially when drivers fail to obey traffic signals. Accidents involving red-light violations or failure to yield can result in serious injuries, particularly when high speeds are involved.

According to the Illinois Department of Transportation, a significant percentage of crashes in urban areas occur at intersections, often leading to injuries requiring medical care. Common contributing factors include distracted driving, reckless speeding, and impaired judgment.

For those involved in an intersection crash, seeking immediate medical attention is crucial. Additionally, gathering evidence—such as photos, traffic camera footage, and police reports—can be essential in determining liability and securing fair compensation for injuries and damages.
