Quincy Twp, MI (January 29, 2025) – A 91-year-old man suffered injuries early Wednesday morning in a rollover crash on US-12 near Fremont Rd in Quincy Township.
According to the Branch County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. when the elderly driver, a Quincy resident, was traveling eastbound and rear-ended a semi-truck moving in the same direction. The impact caused his vehicle to overturn and come to rest on its roof.
Emergency responders arrived promptly and worked to free the man from the overturned vehicle. He was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Authorities believe speed played a role in the crash, though the exact circumstances remain under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured driver, and we wish him a full recovery.
Rollover Accidents in Michigan
Rollover crashes, like the one that occurred on US-12, can be particularly dangerous for drivers and passengers. These accidents often result in severe injuries due to the violent nature of the vehicle’s movement. Even when safety features like airbags and seat belts function correctly, the risk of trauma remains high.
Michigan roadways, including highways like US-12, see a range of collision types, but rear-end crashes involving large trucks can be especially hazardous. Semi-trucks have a significantly longer stopping distance compared to passenger vehicles, making it crucial for drivers to maintain a safe following distance and adjust their speed accordingly.
For older drivers, factors such as reaction time, visibility, and vehicle control can impact crash outcomes. Safe driving practices, including defensive driving techniques and proper speed adjustments, are essential in reducing the risk of accidents.
Those involved in serious crashes often face medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and emotional distress. Understanding one’s rights and seeking professional guidance can help victims and their families navigate the recovery process and explore options for support.
If you or someone you love has been hurt in a rollover accident, you may have options for assistance. Speaking with knowledgeable professionals can help you determine the best course of action for your recovery.
