According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), head-on collisions account for a significant percentage of fatal crashes each year. Rural roads, such as Route 711, can be particularly dangerous due to high speeds and limited visibility.
Drivers can reduce the risk of head-on collisions by staying attentive, avoiding distractions, and adhering to posted speed limits. Defensive driving techniques, such as maintaining a safe following distance and being prepared for unexpected maneuvers, can also help prevent serious accidents.
