Harrison County, WV (January 28, 2025) – Multiple fire departments responded to a structure fire with confirmed entrapment on O’Neil Hill in Harrison County on Monday.

The initial call dispatched Reynoldsville, Nutter Fort, Spelter, and Stonewood Fire Departments, with EMS arriving on the scene to find a single-story wood-frame structure engulfed in heavy fire. Engine 71 requested an additional alarm, bringing in Bridgeport, Mount Clare, and Salem Fire Departments to assist.

Firefighters confirmed entrapment and conducted a Vent-Enter-Search (VES) operation to rescue the occupant. The patient was successfully extricated from the structure and transported for medical care. Interior firefighting crews were later pulled back, and a defensive strategy was initiated due to the intensity of the blaze.

Chief 11 assumed command of the scene while crews worked to contain the fire and prevent further damage. Details about the patient’s condition and the cause of the fire have not been released.

Our thoughts are with the victim and their family, and we extend our gratitude to the brave first responders who worked tirelessly in this critical situation.
