Brick, NJ (January 24, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred early Friday morning on Route 70 in Brick, where 58-year-old Anne Rasmussen of Whiting lost her life after being struck by an alleged drunk driver. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office identified Jose Romero Quinteros, 53, of Howell, as the driver responsible for the crash.
The incident took place around 5 a.m. when Quinteros, driving a Toyota RAV4, was heading east in the westbound lanes of Route 70. His vehicle collided head-on with a Volkswagen Beetle driven by Rasmussen near the Lowe’s shopping center. Rasmussen, an experienced ER nurse who was on her way home from work, was partially ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Rasmussen’s family shared their heartbreak, describing her as a selfless and caring individual who devoted much of her life to helping others. “She would take the shirt off her back for absolutely anyone and would do anything for the people she loved,” her daughter, Kelly Kracsun, wrote in a GoFundMe campaign post created to cover funeral expenses. As of Saturday afternoon, the campaign had raised $22,920.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate the crash. Quinteros is expected to face charges for driving under the influence and other related offenses.
Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Anne Rasmussen during this devastating time.
