Hartford, CT (January 24, 2025) – A 23-year-old Vernon woman tragically lost her life in a wrong-way crash on Route 5/15 in Hartford late Thursday night. State police reported that the collision occurred at approximately 11:13 PM near exit 90.
According to authorities, Kelly Lynn Caldwell, 23, of Vernon, was driving southbound in the northbound lanes when her vehicle collided head-on with a car driven by a 30-year-old East Hartford woman. Emergency responders transported Caldwell to Hartford Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The other driver sustained injuries and is expected to recover.
The crash is under investigation by state police, who are working to determine what caused Caldwell to drive the wrong way on the highway.
