His younger sister, Dakota Dye, described the devastating loss, saying, “It’s not what I thought I’d be waking up to… My brother was someone you couldn’t help but love.” Another sister, Ashley Che, echoed these sentiments, urging the driver to come forward to bring closure to their family.
OHP has not identified the suspect, and the investigation remains ongoing. Authorities are calling for anyone with information about the incident to step forward.
We send our condolences to the victim’s family in this difficult time.
Hit-and-Run Crashes in Oklahoma
Hit-and-run accidents are among the most distressing events on Oklahoma’s roads, leaving victims’ families grappling with unanswered questions. These tragic incidents often involve pedestrians in vulnerable situations, especially on highways and bridges where visibility and safe walkways are limited.
Oklahoma law requires drivers involved in collisions to stop and render aid. Fleeing the scene not only compounds the emotional toll on victims’ families but also carries severe legal consequences. Despite advances in investigative methods, hit-and-run cases can take time to resolve, underscoring the importance of witnesses and community cooperation.
In the wake of this loss, Bryce Benshoof’s family is left seeking answers and closure. As they cope with their grief, they also hope their tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of accountability on the road. To the driver involved, Ashley Che offered a heartfelt plea: “You’ve got to put my family at ease, especially my nephew and my mom.”
