Puyallup, WA (January 18, 2025) – A parking lot altercation escalated into a multi-vehicle crash, resulting in significant damage and the temporary closure of a major roadway in Puyallup on Friday morning.
The incident began around 11:00 a.m. in the parking lot of a Safeway located on the 13200 block of Meridian Ave. According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD), three individuals were involved in a physical altercation, with reports indicating that one person may have brandished a firearm. However, no weapon was found at the scene.
During the dispute, one of the individuals attempted to leave the parking lot in their vehicle. Another person reportedly threw a brick through the car’s window, causing the driver to lose control and slide into Meridian Ave. This led to a collision involving two to three additional vehicles. Bystander videos captured extensive damage scattered across both sides of the road.
Emergency responders arrived promptly to assist, and one individual was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries. Authorities have not disclosed the victim’s condition at this time. Both directions of Meridian Ave between 132nd St E and 128th St were closed following the crash but were reopened by 1:00 p.m.
