Barton County, MO (January 17, 2025) – A tragic rear-end collision on Interstate 49, approximately three miles south of Lamar, claimed the life of one driver and left another with moderate injuries.
The crash occurred around 5:40 PM when a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier traveling southbound struck the rear of a 2015 Ford Transit Van, also heading southbound. The impact resulted in severe damage to both vehicles. Emergency responders from Barton County quickly arrived at the scene to assist those involved.
The driver of the Chevrolet Cavalier, a 52-year-old man from Nevada, MO, was pronounced deceased at Cox Hospital Barton County at 7:04 PM by Dr. Loy. The next of kin has been notified. The driver of the Ford Transit Van, a 42-year-old man from Hollywood, CA, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by EMS to Cox Hospital in Barton County for treatment.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Parks Towing. The incident marked Troop D’s first fatality of 2025 and is currently under investigation by Trooper Z.T.
