Town of Merrill, WI (January 15, 2025) – A crash involving a school bus and an SUV on State Highway 17 in the Lincoln County Town of Merrill resulted in two injuries Tuesday morning. The accident occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the northbound school bus attempted to turn west onto County Road G and was struck by a southbound SUV.
The driver of the SUV and one student from the bus sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Both vehicles were rendered inoperable and towed from the scene. Authorities closed a portion of Highway 17 for several hours to allow for cleanup and investigation.
As of mid-afternoon, no citations had been issued. Officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
