Stapleton, NY (January 15, 2025) – A two-alarm house fire on Targee St in the Stapleton neighborhood of Staten Island resulted in four injuries, including two firefighters. Emergency crews responded to the fire early yesterday morning, which impacted two residential buildings.
The fire was reported to authorities at approximately 7:36 AM. Firefighters upgraded the response to a second alarm as they worked to control the flames and ensure the safety of residents. By 7:52 AM, crews had knocked down the main body of the fire and were addressing remaining hotspots. Primary searches of the affected buildings were conducted during this time.
Two civilians sustained injuries, one of whom required treatment for serious injuries while the other suffered minor injuries. Additionally, two firefighters were injured during their efforts to extinguish the blaze and ensure structural safety. All four individuals were transported to local hospitals for care, and none of the injuries were considered life-threatening.
Firefighters worked in coordination with the Red Cross to assist displaced residents from the affected properties. The fire was declared under control by 9:04 AM after extensive efforts by emergency teams. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
