Bridge City, TX (January 15, 2025) – A tragic rear-end collision on FM 1442, also known as West Roundbunch, claimed the life of one man and left another injured on Monday night. The accident occurred at approximately 9:37 p.m. in the 1300 block of FM 1442.
Andre Calmelet, 43, of Beaumont, was driving a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup when it struck the rear of a 2025 Tesla driven by a 38-year-old man from Orange, according to a news release from the Bridge City Police Department. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the collision occurred.
Upon impact, the Tesla left the roadway and landed in a ditch on the south side of the road. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the crash. Traffic in the area was temporarily disrupted as crews worked to clear the scene and gather evidence.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Andre Calmelet during this difficult time, and we wish for the swift recovery of the injured driver.
