Mobile County, AL (January 15, 2025) – A hit-and-run accident on Sunday night tragically claimed the life of a pedestrian near Theodore Dawes Rd and I-10, authorities reported on Tuesday.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) stated that Nathaniel K. Albritton, 44, of Theodore, was walking in the roadway around 7:09 p.m. when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle. The driver fled the scene, leaving Albritton on the roadway. Moments later, a second vehicle struck Albritton, compounding the tragic event.

Albritton was pronounced dead at the scene, approximately one mile west of Mobile. Authorities have not yet identified the make, model, or driver of the first vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.

The incident remains under investigation as state troopers work to gather information and locate the driver responsible for leaving the scene.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family and loved ones of Nathaniel Albritton during this heartbreaking time.

Pedestrian Accidents and Hit-and-Runs in Alabama

Pedestrian accidents, particularly hit-and-run incidents, are devastating for victims and their families. Alabama roadways, including high-traffic areas like Theodore Dawes Rd near I-10, can be dangerous for pedestrians, especially at night or in poorly lit areas.

Hit-and-run collisions not only increase the emotional toll on victims’ families but also complicate the process of finding justice and accountability. Witness reports and physical evidence, such as vehicle damage, often play a critical role in identifying the fleeing driver.

Motorists are legally required to stop, render aid, and report accidents involving pedestrians. Fleeing the scene is a serious offense with severe legal consequences. Pedestrians are encouraged to use designated crossings and remain visible when walking along roadways to enhance safety.

If you or someone you know has been affected by a pedestrian accident or hit-and-run, it is important to seek professional assistance. Legal guidance can help address the complexities of pursuing justice and compensation in such cases.
