Centerville, IA (January 13, 2025) – A tragic wrong-way crash on Highway 2 near North B Street claimed the life of one person and left two others injured on Saturday evening. The incident occurred at approximately 6:04 PM, according to the Iowa State Patrol.
Authorities reported that a pickup truck, driven by 63-year-old Jeffrey Underwood, was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Highway 2 when it collided head-on with a car traveling westbound. Underwood succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car, 59-year-old Ronald Bedford, and his passenger, 68-year-old Lorraine Bedford, were transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and no further details have been released at this time.
