Catlettsburg, KY (January 13, 2025) – A tragic two-vehicle collision on US-23 near Crider Rd in Boyd County claimed the life of one individual and left another injured on Thursday morning. The accident occurred at approximately 8:46 a.m., prompting a swift response from multiple agencies, including the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 14.
According to preliminary investigations, a 2021 Jeep Gladiator driven by Henry Birchfield, 59, was traveling northbound on US-23 when he disregarded a traffic control device, leading to a collision with a 2017 Hyundai Sonata operated by Jordan Huff, 23. Unfortunately, Mr. Huff succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Boyd County Coroner’s Office.
Mr. Birchfield was transported to Saint Mary’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The extent of his condition has not been disclosed.
Emergency responders from Boyd County EMS, the Boyd County Sheriff’s Office, the Catlettsburg Fire Department, and the Boyd County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by Detective Nathan Carter of KSP Post 14.
