Graves County, KY (January 12, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash in Graves County sent two individuals to the hospital on Saturday afternoon, according to the Graves County Sheriff’s Office. The collision occurred at around 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of KY 339 North and KY 408 West, between the Fancy Farm and Lowes communities.

Authorities report that 70-year-old Trent Snead of Fancy Farm was driving a Ford pickup truck westbound on KY 408 when he attempted to make a left turn onto KY 339 South. During the turn, Snead pulled into the path of a Chevrolet 2500 truck pulling a trailer loaded with a skid steer loader, operated by 52-year-old Barry Burnett of Mayfield.

The vehicles collided, causing Burnett’s truck to veer off KY 339 to the west, where it struck a utility pole.

Snead was transported by Mayfield/Graves County EMS to the former Lowes Elementary School, where he was flown to an out-of-state medical facility for further treatment of his injuries. Burnett was transported by EMS to Mercy Health Paducah for treatment of his injuries. The severity of their conditions has not been disclosed.

The crash remains under investigation by the Graves County Sheriff’s Office.

Car Accidents in Kentucky

Intersections, like the one at KY 339 and KY 408, are common sites for vehicle collisions, often due to misjudged turns, failure to yield, or poor visibility. Accidents involving heavy vehicles or trailers, such as the one reported in Graves County, can lead to significant injuries and property damage.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reports that intersections account for a significant percentage of injury-related crashes statewide. Drivers are urged to exercise caution, yield appropriately, and remain vigilant when navigating intersections, especially in rural areas with high-speed roads.

For individuals injured in car accidents, seeking immediate medical attention and consulting with legal professionals are crucial steps to protect their rights. Victims may be entitled to compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, and other damages resulting from the crash.
