Oak Ridge, TN (January 12, 2025) – A tragic vehicle accident occurred on Saturday morning in Oak Ridge, claiming the lives of two individuals. The Oak Ridge Police Department (ORPD) is currently investigating the incident.
According to ORPD, the crash happened around 8:55 a.m. on South Rutgers Avenue near Manhattan Avenue. A vehicle traveling in the area left the roadway and collided with the exterior wall of a Food City grocery store, causing significant damage. A photo shared by police shows a large hole in the side of the building as a result of the impact.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, the passenger later succumbed to their injuries.
