Doniphan, NE (January 11, 2025) – A chain reaction crash involving multiple vehicles left six people injured, including one man with life-threatening injuries, on Highway 281 just north of Doniphan Thursday evening. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 7 p.m. near the intersection with Clarice Street.
The crash began when a driver pulling out of the Dollar General parking lot struck a southbound semi-truck. The semi jack-knifed, blocking both northbound and southbound lanes of the highway, which triggered collisions involving four additional vehicles.
Five ambulances from Grand Island and Doniphan transported the injured to local hospitals. Among those injured were Rigoberto Palma-Peres, 47, who sustained life-threatening injuries; Kodi Bucy, 50, of Glenvil; Kimberly Funk, 47, of Hastings; Amber Snyder, 28, of North Platte; Jesse Flanagan, 36, of Hastings and a teenage girl.
The sheriff’s office reported that slick road conditions contributed to the crash. Highway 281 was closed between the Doniphan stoplight and Cedar View Road for several hours while emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
Our thoughts go to the victims as we hope for their recovery.
