Kokomo, IN (January 9, 2025) – A tragic crash involving a Kokomo Police Department officer’s vehicle resulted in the death of one individual and serious injuries to another late Wednesday evening. The collision occurred near the intersection of SR 931 and Vaile Ave, prompting an investigation by the Indiana State Police.
According to authorities, the officer was on duty and driving northbound on SR 931 when a 2010 Ford passenger vehicle, traveling eastbound on Vaile Ave, entered SR 931 in front of the patrol car. The police vehicle struck the Ford on its passenger side. Tragically, the passenger in the Ford, identified as 55-year-old Vicky Hollingsworth of Kokomo, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Howard County Coroner’s Office.
The driver of the Ford was transported to an Indianapolis hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators stated that probable cause was found to suggest the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Indiana State Police are leading the investigation to determine the full circumstances surrounding this fatal incident. Traffic in the area of SR 931 and Vaile Ave was disrupted as emergency crews and law enforcement worked at the scene.
