Swanton, VT (January 7, 2025) – Four people sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash on Tuesday morning at the intersection of Bushey Hill Road and Woods Hill Road in Swanton.

According to Vermont State Police, the accident occurred just before 10:30 a.m. when a 66-year-old Fairfield man driving a pickup truck failed to stop at a stop sign on Bushey Hill Road. His vehicle collided with a car driven by a 78-year-old Fairfield woman traveling west on Woods Hill Road. Each driver had one passenger in their vehicle.

The collision took place on partially snow-covered roads, contributing to hazardous driving conditions. Emergency responders transported all four individuals to Northwest Medical Center for treatment. While the specific nature of the passengers’ injuries was not disclosed, police confirmed that both drivers suffered serious injuries. Thankfully, everyone involved was reported to be alert and conscious after the crash.

Police are continuing their investigation into the incident and have not filed any charges as of now. Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident, and we hope for a speedy recovery for the injured individual.

Two-Vehicle Collisions in Vermont

Collisions at intersections, such as the one at Bushey Hill Road and Woods Hill Road, underscore the importance of cautious driving, particularly in adverse weather conditions. Snow-covered roads are a common challenge for Vermont motorists, increasing the risk of skidding or delayed reaction times.

In cases involving failure to obey traffic signals, as reported in this accident, severe outcomes can occur. Drivers must remain vigilant, especially during Vermont’s winter months, when road safety is significantly impacted by weather conditions.

For those affected by accidents, the aftermath can be overwhelming. Accessing proper medical care and navigating insurance or legal matters is often necessary for recovery. Vermont residents are encouraged to stay informed about their rights and resources following traffic incidents.
