Sulphur, LA (January 7, 2025) – A tragic two-truck collision on U.S. Highway 90 near Choupique Rd claimed the life of one man and left several others injured on Saturday evening. Emergency responders, including Louisiana State Police, were called to the scene shortly after 6 PM to provide assistance.
According to Louisiana State Police Trooper Matt Gaspard, the crash occurred when 41-year-old Coby Ray Robin, driving westbound on US-90, crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound truck. Robin, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.
The passenger in Robin’s truck, who was also unrestrained, sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the second truck and three passengers, all of whom were wearing seat belts, also suffered minor injuries and were treated on-site or at local medical facilities.
Due to the fatality, blood samples from both drivers were collected for routine toxicology testing as part of the investigation. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
