Sampson County, NC (January 7, 2025) – A tragic car crash on Sunday night claimed the lives of two people in Sampson County. The incident occurred around 10 PM in the 1000 block of Reedsford Rd, near Byrd-Yancey-Bass Rd, according to investigators.
Authorities reported that a 2013 Hyundai went off the road in Clinton before striking a ditch and two trees. Both the driver, identified as 22-year-old Angel Moises Bonilla Garcia, and the passenger, 17-year-old Daniel Vasquez Gonzales, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol stated that reckless driving and excessive speed were contributing factors in the crash. The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
