Jackson, OH (January 5, 2025) – A tragic accident occurred late Saturday night on US 35, near milepost 6, in Jackson Township, Jackson County, claiming the life of one individual. Emergency responders and the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) were called to the scene at approximately 10:45 PM to address the severe crash.
The incident involved two vehicles traveling in opposite directions. Authorities reported that Jason Frey, 46, of Chillicothe, Ohio, was operating a 2021 Audi A5 westbound on US 35. Frey failed to navigate a curve, causing his vehicle to veer off the road’s left side and cross the median into the eastbound lanes. His vehicle collided head-on with a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva driven by Luke White, 18, of Milton, West Virginia.
The force of the collision caused Frey’s Audi to overturn several times, ultimately coming to rest in the median. Frey sustained critical injuries and was transported by Jackson County EMS to Holzer Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. White and his passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The OSHP is conducting an in-depth investigation to determine all factors contributing to this devastating crash. Authorities have not yet disclosed additional details about potential causes.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.
