Sandgate, VT (January 4, 2025) – A tragic house fire claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others injured on Wednesday morning in the Bennington County town of Sandgate. The Vermont State Police, along with multiple fire departments, are investigating the incident that occurred at a residence on Chunks Brook Rd.

The fire was reported at approximately 11:30 a.m., prompting a response from numerous fire departments across Vermont and New York. Crews worked tirelessly to bring the fire under control. Two individuals were found deceased at the scene, while the two injured victims were transported to New York hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries remains unknown.

The bodies of the deceased victims will be sent to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of their deaths. Their identities will be released following further investigation and notification of their families.
