Seattle, WA (January 4, 2024) – A pedestrian was tragically killed in a collision with a sedan early Saturday morning in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood. The incident occurred on East Marginal Way South near South Orcas Street, prompting an immediate response from local authorities.
Seattle Police Department (SPD) officers arrived at the scene shortly before 5 a.m. to find a woman critically injured after being struck by a northbound sedan. Despite the officers’ emergency first aid efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to investigators, the pedestrian was walking in traffic lanes without using a designated crossing when the collision occurred. The sedan’s driver remained at the scene, cooperated with police, and underwent an evaluation by a Drug Recognition Expert, who found no signs of impairment.
The accident led to the temporary closure of all northbound lanes from South Mead Street to South Orcas Street. The roadway has since reopened as police concluded their investigation at the scene.
