Holmes County, FL (January 4, 2025) – Two people tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision on Highway 90 near the Holmes-Walton County line Friday morning. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) confirmed the accident involved three vehicles and has resulted in a significant roadway closure.
According to authorities, the incident occurred when a vehicle traveling east on Highway 90 veered into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with another vehicle. The impact caused the first vehicle to overturn, landing in a ditch, while the second vehicle spun and struck a third vehicle.
Sadly, the drivers of the first two vehicles succumbed to their injuries at the scene. A passenger in the second vehicle was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries, while the driver of the third vehicle sustained serious injuries and was also hospitalized.
Emergency responders from Walton County Fire Rescue and Holmes County EMS have been working to clear the scene and provide aid. As of now, Highway 90 remains shut down in the vicinity of the Holmes-Walton County line, with officials advising drivers to expect delays and proceed cautiously.
