Tucson, AZ (January 3, 2025) – An 81-year-old woman passed away following a two-vehicle crash on Tucson’s southwest side Wednesday afternoon. The accident occurred around 3 p.m. on W Valencia Rd near S Mark Rd, according to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
Authorities reported that Martha Saldivar was driving westbound on Valencia Rd when her vehicle veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with another vehicle. Saldivar initially declined medical treatment at the scene but was later transported to a hospital. Tragically, she died during surgery later that evening, as confirmed by the Pima County Medical Examiner’s office.
The occupants of the second vehicle involved were also transported to the hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine contributing factors.
