Colorado Springs, CO (January 3, 2025) – A tragic RV fire claimed the life of a woman near the Colorado Springs airport on Thursday morning. Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) crews responded to the 5500 block of East Bijou Street, near the intersection of Platte Ave and Powers Blvd, after reports of smoke and fire.
When firefighters arrived, they observed light smoke outside the RV but found heavier smoke and a small fire inside. Crews quickly extinguished the flames and discovered a woman inside the RV. Despite immediate efforts to provide medical aid, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire was fully extinguished by 10:40 AM. CSFD investigators are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire, while the Colorado Springs Police Department is conducting an investigation into the woman’s death.
