Bear, DE (January 2, 2025) – A devastating fire broke out at the Fox Run Apartment Complex on Wednesday afternoon, leaving six people injured, including two in critical condition, and displacing dozens of residents. The fire caused extensive damage, with losses estimated at over $1 million.
The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is actively investigating the blaze, which occurred at approximately 2:30 PM on the 1000 block of Woodchuck Place. Responding crews from the Christiana Fire Company arrived to find the three-story apartment building engulfed in flames. High winds exacerbated the spread of the fire, prompting a second alarm and additional resources from neighboring fire departments.
Emergency responders, including New Castle County Paramedics and Fire Department EMS teams, provided on-site medical treatment to six injured individuals. Two critically injured victims were initially transported to Christiana Hospital before being transferred to Crozer Hospital in Pennsylvania for advanced care.
The fire displaced dozens of residents, with twelve families requiring immediate assistance. Volunteers from the Red Cross of the National Capital & Greater Chesapeake Region offered financial aid, replaced essential items such as medications and eyeglasses, and provided emotional and mental health support.
