Brick Township, NJ (December 30, 2024) – A tragic wrong-way crash claimed the life of Anne Rasmussen, a 58-year-old emergency room nurse from Whiting, early Friday morning. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. on Route 70 near Lowe’s in Brick Township, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Romero Quinteros, 53, of Howell, was identified as the driver of the wrong-way vehicle. Authorities report that Quinteros, driving a Toyota Rav 4 eastbound in the westbound lanes, collided head-on with a Volkswagen Beetle driven by Rasmussen. Quinteros has been charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. He remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Rasmussen was partially ejected from her vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. She was reportedly driving home from her shift at the time of the collision. Police are currently investigating the incident.
