Portland, OR (December 30, 2024) – A dramatic rescue unfolded tonight in Southeast Portland, where police and firefighters worked together to save a woman trapped inside a burning vehicle. The incident occurred at the intersection of SE Mt. Scott Boulevard and 112th Avenue following a crash that left the car on its side and engulfed in flames.

When Portland police arrived, intense flames were shooting from the front of the vehicle. Moments later, Portland Fire crews arrived and began extinguishing the blaze. Firefighters broke through the car’s windshield to reach the driver, who was trapped inside.

The woman was safely removed from the burning vehicle and immediately received chest compressions from an officer on the scene. Emergency responders managed to revive her and provide oxygen before transporting her to a local hospital. She is expected to survive and is currently recovering. Police reportedly cited the driver for driving under the influence and reckless driving.

We wish those hurt in this wreck a swift recovery.

DUI-Related Accidents in Oregon

Driving under the influence is one of the leading causes of serious and fatal accidents in Oregon. Crashes involving impaired drivers not only endanger those directly involved but also place first responders and other motorists at risk. This incident highlights the dedication of emergency crews and the life-saving measures they take under extreme conditions.

Victims of DUI-related crashes often face physical recovery, emotional trauma, and financial challenges. In addition to criminal charges, at-fault drivers may face civil liability for the damages they cause.
