Palm Beach County, FL (December 29, 2024) – A tragic pedestrian crash claimed the lives of two individuals on Friday evening at the intersection of Fairgreen Rd and Drexel Rd. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) reported the incident occurred around 7:00 PM.

Authorities identified the victims as Terry Moore, 73, and Michael Moore, 71, who were crossing Drexel Rd on the south side of the intersection while walking eastbound on Fairgreen Rd. According to the PBSO, a 77-year-old male driver was traveling southbound on Drexel Rd when he moved into the northbound lanes to pass vehicles slowing down at the intersection. The vehicle then entered the intersection and struck the Moores.

Emergency responders arrived promptly, but both pedestrians were pronounced dead shortly after the crash. The driver was not injured in the incident.

The PBSO continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic accident. Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of the victims during this incredibly difficult time.

Pedestrian Accidents in Florida

Florida is among the most dangerous states for pedestrians, with a high number of fatal crashes occurring at intersections. Incidents like this highlight the vulnerability of pedestrians in the face of reckless or unsafe driving behavior.

Pedestrian fatalities often result from factors such as speeding, distracted driving, or improper lane usage. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution, obey traffic laws, and remain vigilant for pedestrians, especially at intersections and crosswalks.

For those affected by pedestrian accidents, seeking legal guidance can help navigate the complexities of insurance claims and ensure justice for victims and their families.
